Lady Lazarus
48 “ x 68” Oil, Craypas, Linen and Plaster on Masonite
Created in 2024 and inspired by the Sylvia Plath poem Lady Lazarus. The painting is an homage to the immutable spirit of creation and to art itself. Inviting the viewer to engage with the painting on a personal level, and imagine their own unique resurrection. The use of bold colors rising from the murky green tones at the base of the painting is a call to transformation and survival. Texturally, the painting’s surface is torn and sanded, almost as if the painting itself were battered.
